In the not-so-distant past, we heard a lot from Microsoft, which was its Office for tablets updates, the new Windows Phone and the new Windows 9. There is yet another news coming forth from Microsoft. This news is about the update of the Windows 8.1; update being 1. The intentions are clear, mainly to improve the user experience. Today it has emerged that individuals trussed with the MSDN developer program can download the ISO file in advance of the official release of the Windows 8.1 Update 1.

Builds of the Windows 8.1 Update 1 has now been making its unofficial way of making its way to the internet. But today, Microsoft made the ISO files officially available for the MSDN subscribers. Not only the Windows 8.1 Update 1, but the Windows Server 2012 Update 1 now available through the same source. How cool is that, right?

Revealed on BUILD, Microsoft will release the Windows 8.1 Update 1 as a free update, that is, anyone with a licensed Windows will be getting a free update. The roll on is set on April 8th. Microsoft has focused upon the point that users felt were missing in the Windows, mainly the desktop user experience. Going from a fully touch oriented to desktop version is not actually that simple.

Although with Windows 8.1, people really have get used to the traditional start menu button, which was missing in its ancestor Windows. Thought the Windows 8.1 Update 1 guarantees much more than this. Not only the Windows apps are more stable and better running but they are also promising the old-fashioned desktop of the Windows.

All these trivial changes are step towards the upcoming Windows 9, which is coming some time in next year. For now, if you’re a MSDN subscriber, go get your copy of the Windows 8.1 Update 1 and that of the Windows Server 2012 Update 1 as well.
