Have you ever imagined of a phone that has the capability of running both the platforms? Having such a devise can surely unlock barriers to amazing results. But unfortunately such a device does not exists as yet. Who knows it might come in our hands someday. But as for now, we now have such a thing which fills in the gaps of Android and iOS and lets you run native iOS apps on your Android.

Six Columbiana University students have actually made it possible by something called the Cider. There are two Cider, one is explicitly for OS X and then there is this one, the Android version. The Cider actually fools the iOS native apps to think that they are running on an iPhone or an iPad. Pretty cool right?

However this Cider is just a mere prototype. And the results are not as welcoming as one expects. The performance of these applications is not satisfactory. The amount of lag is quite much. But as mentioned earlier, it is a prototype and there is still much to come. Apart from the performance issues, most of these apps cannot access the core hardware of the device, such as the GPS or the cellular connectivity. Apps like these also have to work out.

It is expected that the problems that the software now faces will be reduced as the students work on it. As for then stay in touch with us for the latest news related to Cider.
