When we last heard of Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, the game was rated by the Korean rating board back in May of 2018. It seems that a fresh rating for the game has recently made an appearance on the Taiwan rating board and what’s curious about the listing is that the game is being ported by a third-party developer.
Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition coming 2019?
In 2015, we got the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. The game had Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 2: The Pre-Sequel. Both games came with their complete DLC packages and lacked the original game which at the time was only available on the PS3, Xbox 360 and the PC.
The new ratings are now live on the Taiwan Rating board website for the PS4 and the Xbox One.
What is most curious about the listing is the mention of Blind Squirrel games as the developers, suggesting that Gearbox isn’t handling the port themselves and have instead outsourced the game to the studio. Perhaps Gearbox has already got all hands on deck with Borderlands 3 and is preparing for an announcement very soon? Let’s wait and see what lies in the cards for Vault Hunters.
Borderlands 3 to be announced at E3 with Borderlands Game of the Year as a digital pre-order bonus?
The most curious thing about the listing is it makes one wonder why Gearbox chose to exclude the first game from The Handsome Collection in the first place? We know that Gearbox is hard at work on a Borderlands 3 but will the studio announce the game at the upcoming E3 conference in June 2019?
We suspect that Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition for these consoles will be a digital pre-order bonus or part of a bundle in Borderlands 3. There really is little to no reason for the otherwise.
For now, all we can do is keep an ear to the ground on what Gearbox is up to behind closed doors and hope for the best.
