Remastering 3 90’s Fighting Games on Nintendo Switch – What are your guesses?
Its no secret that Nintendo has less to offer when it comes to fighting games on the Nintendo Switch. Until Mortal Kombat 11 releases at least. It seems that while the PS4 and Xbox One have plenty of variety, the remaster of 90’s fighter games does sound appealing. The only fighting game that’s available for the Switch is the original Street Fighter games. While the PS4 and Xbox One have Tekken 7, Mortal Kombat X, Soul Calibur 6 and plenty of other games.
Whatever game series they are planning on remastering is being made in Unreal Engine 4, so it does mean that the game will be optimized well enough to run smoothly on the Nintendo Switch. The PS4 and Xbox One will be able to run the game without breaking a sweat but some good old optimization from the new engine will help tremendously.
Many people are expecting or hoping for a remaster of the original Mortal Kombat trilogy to tie-in with the release of the game mid-2019.
Considering the 90’s was a superb time for fighting games with the King of Fighters, Virtua Fighter, and plenty of other games to offer, it will be tough to call which trilogy it could potentially be. It would be nice to have a new fighting game series on the Nintendo Switch to enjoy until the arrival of Mortal Kombat 11, but now all we can do is wait for an official announcement to come on this remaster.
What are your thoughts on the possible remaster options? What fighting game trilogy would you like to see on the Nintendo Switch?
