From the description
“ASTRO BOT Rescue Mission is a brand new platformer, developed exclusively for use with PS VR by JAPAN STUDIO. Take control of ASTRO the captain BOT and go on an epic VR rescue mission to save your fellow crew who are dispersed all over space.”
You’ll be taking control of Astro which if you’re not familiar is the bot from the Playroom in PlayStation, who has to rescue all his fellow crew members by going through various platforming puzzles and will require user interaction through his entire cute adventure.
This is a fun little project by Sony Japan, which I believe is the right way to do 3D platformers for VR, having to look up your character up close anytime, have him jump around you, move close to obstacles to get a better hang on things, it’s immersive gaming which while doesn’t entirely require your physical self to be active, still make you feel part of the world.
You’re basically this giant entity controlling the character, with him hoping around at your will and solving cute puzzles.
This is the direction VR needs to go when handling games that require full physical immersion. While the game doesn’t have a release date yet but will feature 20 levels spread across five planets. Each planet will also have a boss for you to take down as well.
