We will be getting Apple’s upcoming Mac OS i.e. OS X Yosemite in Fall this year. Till now, we have learnt much about OS X Yosemite. The new OS will be having complete redesign of interface and some new apps i.e. healthbook. A new Photos app will also be included. When the Cupertino made this announcement, everyone started thinking about iPhoto and Aperture app for Mac OS. Well, the company has decided to end the development of both apps!
In a talk with TechCrunch, an Apple spokesperson confirmed the decision. This is what the spokesperson said,
With the introduction of the new Photos app and iCloud Photo Library, enabling you to safely store all of your photos in iCloud and access them from anywhere, there will be no new development of Aperture. When Photos for OS X ships next year, users will be able to migrate their existing Aperture libraries to Photos for OS X.
Apple will not end providing updates to bring it in compatibility with OS X Yosemite. But the iPhoto and Aperture app will not be given any new feature. Moreover, Apple will also bring you a way to make transition to new Photos app easy.
The new Photos app will be coming with features of Aperture. This includes photo filters smart adjustments for exposure, brightness etc. The end of Aperture and iPhotos app have also given Adobe, a chance to develop its Lightroom.

However, it is difficult to predict whether Adobe will replace these apps or Apple will continue its dominance with its new Photos app. The Cupertino will continue offering apps like Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro to professionals.
