Of all the rumors we had already heard weeks ago and the one that was rumored even before that. The moment is finally here. The deal has finally happened and we are now looking at a new era of devices under the name of Apple. Apple has made it official, Dr. Dre’s Beats Electronics now belongs to Cupertino and it cost them a sum total of $3 million.
Rumors had circulated that CEO Tim Cook of Apple was interested in nabbing up the audio accessory and music-streaming outfit. This might be not relevant but there was also a video in which Dre himself declared that he had become the first billionaire in hip-hop. There was news that the founders of Beats will work in Apple.
Well, good or bad news, but Jimmy Lovine and Dr. Dre (Andre Young) will now be joining Cook and VP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue. The exact title that are to be assigned to these executives has not been revealed yet. But we hope to announce that too as soon as we get the news ourselves.
The deal includes both the hardware and the streaming software sectors of Dr. Dre’s previous business. This as expected and as according to records has been the biggest purchase ever made by Apple. As Cook said himself that music is such an important part of our lives and now I quote,
Music is such an important part of all of our lives and holds a special place within our hearts at Apple
He also said,
“That’s why we have kept investing in music and are bringing together these extraordinary teams so we can continue to create the most innovative music products and services in the world.”
As expected, the Beats duo will be tasked with the next wave of Apple’s music products, but Tim Cook did not offer any details in an interview. To celebrate, Beats Music has already updated its iOS app, dropping the cost of an annual subscription to $100 (a $20 discount) and extending the free trial window to two weeks. What’s more, Tim Cook has confirmed that the streaming service will still be available to folks on Android and Windows Phone after the deal goes through.
