Apex Legends Season 2 is finally here, and with it come a number of changes and additions that the game desperately needed. One of the best additions is the Apex Legends Ranked Leagues. Ranked leagues are very common in many multiplayer games, and allow users to take part in the competitive side of the game.
We’ll go over everything you need to know about these leagues, including details about rewards, ranked points and penalties.
Apex Legends Ranked Leagues
Ranked matches in Apex Legends season 2 will focus on a bunch of aspects, including ensuring that players of similar skill level are matched, and there is a risk and reward system in place to ensure that you can only enter higher level matches if you have the sufficient skill and ranked levels.
Ranks in Apex Legends
There are a total of six ranks in the game currently, which are
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Apex Predator

All of the tiers except Apex Predator have four divisions. For example, with the Gold Rank, you’ll have the following divisions
- Gold IV
- Gold III
- Gold II
- Gold I
Gold I will be the top division in the Gold Tier, and players will start with Bronze IV by default.
Ranked Points and Scoring in Apex Legends Ranked Leagues
Bronze matches are free to enter, but every other tier has a joining price of RP (Ranked Points)
- Bronze matches are free
- Silver matches cost 1RP
- Gold matches cost 2RP
- Platinum matches cost 3RP
- Diamond matches cost 4RP
- Apex Predator matches cost 5RP
During each match, you will earn RP, and with that RP you can enter higher tier matches as you level up yourself.
- Kills are worth 1RP up to a maximum of 5RP per match
- Placing Top 10 is worth 2RP, Top 5 is 4RP, Top 3 earns 7RP, and a win will bank 12RP
The maximum amount of RP you can earn per match is 17RP.
Ladder Movement
As you progress, you will climb ranks, and within those ranks, you will either climb or fall in that specific rank. This means that if you’re currently in Gold tier, you won’t be demoted to Silver, if you keep losing, however, you will be demoted to the previous division within that rank, for example, you could be demoted to Gold III from Gold II.
Rewards in Apex Legends Ranked Leagues
With every win, you will keep climbing the ladder, and eventually rank up, but with that, you’ll also earn Series 1 rank badges by the end of the season based on your rank by the end of the season itself. There are more rewards that’ll be given to players as well but will be revealed by the developers later.
Penalties
Since this is the competitive mode for the game, players will be given penalties if they do the following actions
Players that leave their teammates during the match will be given a matchmaking penalty in both ranked and regular modes. This will put a waiting period on the player before they can enter a match.
The abandon will count in the following scenarios
- Leaving the game, when the match isn’t over for you
- Leaving during character select,
- Leaving while you are alive
- Leaving when you are dead but can still be respawned by teammates
