Android Lollipop is Official Now, features Material Design, revamped Multitasking menu, 5000 new APIs and more

Google has just officially unveiled its next Android platform. The 5.0 version of Android is finally here. Android 5.0 (dubbed as Android Lollipop) has been in tests for quite a while now. Now, the final build of the platform is here. Android Lollipop debuts with Google’s latest devices i.e. Nexus 6 smartphone, Nexus 9 tablet and Nexus Player streaming media device. Android 5.0 will soon also reach other Google Edition devices.

What’s New in Android Lollipop?

Well, Android Lollipop is undoubtedly a major update from the previous versions. Google has implemented a complete new look on its platform. The new look is ‘Material Design’ which we have now seen on various Google apps too. Google is gradually getting its all apps enriched with Material Design. Android 5.0 features clear look with visual enhancements. It comes with a revamped multitasking menu to make your experience lovely.

Apart from user interface changes, the new Android version has got 5,000 new APIs. With these APIs, the developers can get more into the new platform. These new APIs will make syncing between multiple Android devices better. These APIs will also make apps to function well on Android Lollipop.

Other than that, Android Lollipop has also got various other enhancements. With Notification controls, you can limit message or call alerts during certain times. A new battery saver mode is also added. The feature will add 90 more minutes to your Android handset. Moreover, for the first time, you can have multiple user accounts and guest user modes on your Android device.
