AllCast for Amazon TV

Android is open source, and because of that we have many advantages. The biggest advantage of that would be that we can use an app built by one person, to the benefit of all. Now this being mentioned, I would like to go one step ahead. Clockworkmod being a famous app. What for you ask? Well clockworkmod is a custom recovery for Android phones and tablets that allows you to perform several recovery, installation, restoration and maintenance on your Android device that are not possible with your custom recovery.

Koushik Dutta, the man behind Clockworkmod has yet again given the world something new. That is the AllCast for Amazon’s FireTV. The program lets you send anything, ranging from videos to photos to music to your TV. Condition being that your Android must be running on Ice Cream Sandwich or above. The app is free to install on the FireTV, although AllCast for Android must be purchased for $4.99 to activate its full features.

The mirror feature is still in beta, though it works reliably. Those who do not know about the mirror feature, it lets you mirror your device’s screen on your TV without any physical medium. The frame rate hang on a number of factor, one being the network speed and the other being the device speed. Usually the mirror feature works on high-end Android devices.

All that being said, what are your opinions on the AllCast? Well for me sitting on a couch and seeing through my mobile phone and seeing all that on a big screen is a dream. Well, use to think about that in my childhood. But now Koushik Dutta has made it a mere reality.
